Masterclass with Jon S. Baird, 5-6pm, Belmont Filmhouse

We are delighted that award-winning director, Jon Baird, who is going to kick off the University’s May Festival in a Director’s Cut event on Friday 24th May, has agreed to do a GWW Centre Masterclass with our Film students. Jon, who is a graduate of Aberdeen, will be discussing ways of breaking into the film and television industry, and talking in depth about how he filmed a scene from one of his movies. Prof. Alan Marcus will facilitate the session.

In addition, the main Director’s Cut event with Jon Baird at the May Festival at 7:30pm in KCC Auditorium is open to members of the University and the public. This event, interlaced with clips from his feature films, will look at the whole of his work: https://www.abdn.ac.uk/directorscut/profiles/baird/

FRIDAY 24 MAY – SUNDAY 26 MAY

Short Film Exhibition by Local Teenage Filmmakers, May Tent, King’s Lawn

The George Washington Wilson Centre is proud to present an exhibition of short films by local teenage filmmakers. In March 2019, the GWW Centre hosted a two-day Filmmaking Workshop for School Pupils aged 16+ from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire schools at the University of Aberdeen’s Media Lab. Organised by Dr Áine Larkin and guided by student instructors, local teenage filmmakers devised, planned, created and edited a short film in only 8 days. Check out the plasma screen on display in the May Tent on the King’s Lawn to experience the future of film.
