Alchemy Film and Arts: Moving Image Projects in Hawick with Rachael Disbury and Michael Pattison

On Wednesday 24 February, the MLitt Film, Visual Culture and Arts Management programme was delighted to welcome guest speakers from Alchemy Film and Arts. Production Director, Rachael Disbury, and Creative Director, Michael Pattison joined us for our Week 5 seminar on the core course, Projects in Film and Visual Culture. Rachael and Michael talked about the organisation’s central outputs, Film Town, Continue Watching and their flagship event, the Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival, which, in response to the global pandemic, moved to an online delivery for the first time in 2020. It was fascinating to gain insight into the diverse ways Alchemy foster discussion, strengthen communities and stimulate creative thought through moving images in their Scottish Borders context. Check out the wealth of materials, archive projects and upcoming events on their website, here. Thank you to the Aberdeen City Council’s Creative Funding scheme for making this event possible.
